When to Register for the Uttar Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act?

Every shop or commercial establishment owner must apply for uttar pradesh shops and establishment registration within three months of starting their business. 

Exemptions Under the Uttar Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act 

The Uttar Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act does not apply to certain categories of employees and establishments. Here are the exemptions: 

1. Managerial, Confidential, or Supervisory Roles: Employees who occupy managerial, confidential, or supervisory positions in a shop or commercial establishment with not more than five employees are exempt. However, the number of such exempted employees should not exceed ten percent of the total workforce. 

2. Intermittent Work: Employees whose work is inherently intermittent, such as travellers or canvassers, are not covered by the Act. 

3. Government Offices: Offices of government or local authorities are exempt from the provisions of this Act. 

4. Health and Care Establishments: Establishments engaged in the treatment or care of the sick, infirm, destitute, or mentally unfit are not subject to this Act. 

5. Family Members: Members of the family of an employer working in the same establishment are exempt from this Act.
